Monarchs outmuscle Niners, 6-0

The Old Dominion Monarchs didn’t play pretty, but it was enough to keep their slim bowl chances alive. The Monarchs used two field goals by kicker Nick Rice and a solid defensive performance to keep the Niners at bay and win 6-0. Charlotte fell to 1-8 on the year, while ODU improved to 3-6.

49er quarterback Hasaan Klugh, who was hurt late in the fourth quarter, went 7-16 for 62 yards, while backup Brooks Barden went 2-6 for 33 yards. Benny LeMay rushed for 68 yards, receiver Mark Quattlebaum turned in four receptions for 46 yards and Trent Bostick had three catches for 42 yards.
