CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte 49ers men's golf team leaped three spots up the leaderboard on Tuesday and finished the day in third, qualifying for the match play semifinals against second-seeded Middle Tennessee. Conor Purcell and Tyler Young each shot one-under in stroke to play to lead the charge and secured both match play points in the heartbreaking 3-2 defeat.
Purcell got off to a sluggish start with three bogeys on the front, but responded accordingly on the back with four birdies to tally his team-leading 71 (-1). Purcell finished tied for 16th overall as did Young.
