CHARLOTTE – was the hero on Friday night (May 9) for Charlotte Baseball, hitting a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Niners an 8-7 win over UAB in the series opener between the two at Hayes Stadium.
Maryniak stepped up with two outs in the 11th and took a 2-2 pitch over the wall in right for Charlotte's (29-20, 13-9 American) third walk-off victory and second in extra innings this year. Maryniak's home run was his eighth of the season and one of five in the game, with also leaving the yard with his team-leading 11th home run of the season as the other one of Charlotte's two deep shots in the game.
