Josh Maciejewski dazzled on the mound Sunday afternoon against the Thundering Herd, throwing a complete game 1-hit shutout, striking out seven batters while also getting help from a Brett Netzer three-run blast to right, lifting the 49ers to a 5-0 victory.
There were very few bright moments for Charlotte (17-24, 7-11 C-USA) in the first two games of the series, struggling to capitalize with runners on base and find a pitcher that they could be confident in, both problems answered in Sunday’s win over Marshall (21-16, 10-8 C-USA).
“Maciejewski was fantastic,” said Head Coach Loren Hibbs after the game.
