The Charlotte 49ers hosted their annual "Let Me Play" Luncheon, Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Charlotte Convention Center in uptown Charlotte and raised over $176,000 for women's athletics, surpassing the goal.

During the event, Lynn Ivey and John Moore established the Dale Halton Let Me Play Scholarship in honor of the longtime friend of the program. Any additional contributions will go towards that scholarship.

The luncheon was created to bring female community leaders together in an effort to illustrate the importance athletics can play in the development of young women.

Former 49ers softball player Gina Allen Wilson, who received her BS in Nursing from UNC Charlotte in 2010, an MS in Nursing from Duke University in 2014 and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Duke University in 2016, spoke to over 520 attendees.
