CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Kent State took advantage of four Charlotte errors and rode the left arm of starter Eric Lauer, who tossed seven strong innings, leading the Golden Flashes to a 4-3 victory in the series-opener Friday at Hayes Stadium. KSU wins their fifth-straight while snapping Charlotte’s four-game win streak.
Kent State (5-3) broke up the pitcher’s duel scoreless contest in the fourth as a Dylan Rosa two-out double scored Alex Miklos. In the sixth, it was a throwing error by Charlotte that led to Luke Burch reaching second to lead off the inning. Two batters later, the miscue came back to haunt the Niners as Miklos delivered a sacrifice fly to center scoring Burch with the unearned run.
