Jamal Covington's teammates see him as a leader on the field. He leads them in drills at practices and calls out signals during games. But he also leads the 49ers with his work off the field.
Covington list of accomplishments off the field is impressive to say the least. Prior to the 2016 season, he was named to the watch-list for both the All-State Good Works Team and Wuerffel Trophy, which is award for community service. Throughout his collegiate career, he has served as President and VP of Charlotte's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), he was the C-USA Student-Athlete Rep at the NCAA Leadership Forum and was a member of the Chancellor's Advisory Council for Intercollegiate Athletics.
