CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Junior Reece Hampton became the second players drafted from the 49ers baseball program selected in the 12th round by the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers took the centerfielder with the first pick of the round, the 345th overall selection.
"This is another great example of a local, undrafted guy out of high school turning himself into a pro," started Head Coach Loren Hibbs. "He has continued to hone his skills and improve his experience year-by-year to get to this point. He has taken away dozens of hits with his speed in the outfield and is a quality guy at the top of the lineup.
