Charlotte, N.C. – Behind an overtime goal by Megan Greene and a strong defensive performance, the Charlotte 49ers (1-0-0) defeated Longwood (0-1-0), 1-0, in overtime in the season opener.
"We had some chances earlier in the game, one that hit the post, and if one of them had gone in it would have been a different game," Charlotte coach John Cullen said. "Longwood is a good team. They are preseason number two in the Big South and they made it to the final of the Big South last year and you can see why.
