CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After dominating the digs column in Conference USA over the weekend, Charlotte libero Yumi Garcia has been named the league's "Defensive Player of the Week" in advance of Tuesday night's first road match at UNCG. Garcia, named to the Charlotte Invitational's All-Tournament team, helped the Niners to a 2-2 opening weekend which featured three, five-set matches.
Garcia racked up 105 total digs averaging 5.83/set to easily lead the league after opening weekend. Her 105 digs were 33 digs clear of the next-closest C-USA competitor and nearly seven-tenths of a point better in digs per set.
