One particular comment senior Chris Montgomery harmlessly uttered kept coming to light.
It wasn't about the confidence Matt Beam, his high school coach, had in him, despite its large impact. "I give all ups to coach Beam. He worked so hard and steadily on me. In middle school, I was slow as molasses, so I played like a wing. Coach Beam said 'I want you to be my quarterback.' (Then in high school) he told the JV coach, 'Chris Montgomery should be your quarterback'. Seeing he had that confidence in me -- it made me want to work harder.
