CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A pair of major award winners from last season have landed on Conference USA's preseason team as announced by league officials on Thursday afternoon. Sophomore Tyra Galloway and senior Yumi Garcia earn the preseason accolades while the team was picked to finish seventh in 2019.
PATH TO PRESEASON POPULARITY
Galloway was named the league's defensive player of the year and the AVCA's South Region freshman of the year finishing second among freshman nationwide with 151 total blocks. Those 151 blocks put her 10th on the all-time single season list. Garcia was named C-USA libero of the year for the second-straight season after 681 digs, 64 more than her previous school record of 617 two seasons ago.
