CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte baseball clinched its first Conference USA series of the year on Sunday downing FIU 6-2 at Hayes Stadium. Three runs in both the fourth and seventh innings propelled the Niners to victory.
“This is a good start to Conference USA play,” started off Head Coach Loren Hibbs. “We beat a good offensive team and they ran out some good arms this weekend. It wasn’t real pretty being cold and dreary, but we did what we needed to do to win.”
Charlotte (11-9, 2-1 C-USA) got a stellar pitching performance from starter Josh Maciejewski tying a career-high with eight innings pitched while fanning a career-best eight.
