CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte volleyball took home two major awards and saw a total of five represented on Conference USA’s all-conference teams announced on Tuesday afternoon. Prior to the start of the annual tournament on Thursday, the 49ers saw Karen Weatherington win the league’s Coach of the Year, the first-ever by a 49ers volleyball head coach, with Emani’ Foster being named Freshman of the Year. Sydney Rowan, Amani McArthur and Lara Kretschmer also received honors for their play this season. All awards were voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Foster won her Freshman of the Year honors after a spectacular rookie season in which she won the league’s Freshman of the Week award a school-record six times.
