The 49ers Basketball family mourns the loss of former standout Galen Young. Young played for the 49ers from 1997-99 and was 1999 C-USA Tournament MVP. Our thoughts and prayers are with Galen's family at this difficult time.
Young played two seasons at Charlotte (1997-98 and 1998-99) after transferring from Northwest Mississippi Community College, where he was a 1996 NJCAA All-American.
The Memphis, Tennessee native helped the 49ers make two NCAA Tournament appearances in 1998 and 1999. During his time at Charlotte, the 49ers won 43 games while capturing the 1999 Conference USA Tournament title and reaching the 1998 Conference USA Tournament Championship game.
