When Yumi Garcia arrived to Charlotte as a transfer just before the 2017 season, the libero from Brazil immediately set her sights on breaking every record she could during her remaining three years on the volleyball court. Garcia wasted no time in breaking her first record. In her first season with the 49ers, Garcia set the new single-season digs record with 617 as the only player in history in eclipse 600 digs in a season. Her 2017 season broke Carly Romberg's record of 571 set back in 2008.
After taking home Conference USA's Libero of the Year honor, Garcia took the digs stats up another notch in 2018 flirting with 700 digs finishing with 681 to shatter her own record and earn a second-straight Libero of the Year trophy from C-USA.
