DYK: Busch was named the 2008 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year

In November of 2008, Jon Busch was named Major League Soccer’s Goalkeeper of the Year after recording a Chicago Fire single-season record tying 10 shutouts with a 1.10 goals against average. In 2008, he was also named the Fire’s team MVP after being the only Fire player to start every game. He led Major League Soccer in saves percentage (78.2) after tallying 122 saves on 156 shots faced. In the 2008 and 2009 seasons, Busch recorded 10 shutouts in each of those seasons for the Fire which is still tied for the team’s single-season record.

PRO CAREER
After his stellar 49ers career, Busch enjoyed a 21-year pro career playing primarily in Major League Soccer for the Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew and San Jose Earthquakes.
