The Charlotte 49ers (13-17, 3-6 C-USA) came up short to the N.C. State Wolfpack (20-9) in Raleigh, N.C., Wednesday night 7-3, despite outhitting State 10-9.
“We got the score to 5-3 in the eighth and actually had the winning run at the plate but just had some poor at bats,” said Head Coach Loren Hibbs after the loss.
The Wolfpack did not waste anytime scoring at Doak Field, scoring once in the first and two in the third.
With an early exit from Horkey after only 3.2 innings pitched, Brandan Casas entered the game from the bullpen, giving up a RBI double to Joe Dunand on his first pitch, creating a four-run deficit for Charlotte.
