Charlotte landed 10 players on Athlon Sports Preseason all-Conference USA teams, highlighted by first team selections Victor Tucker and Ben DeLuca. Five 49ers were named to the publication's preseason second team and three more were included on the third and fourth teams. With 10 selections, Charlotte was tied for third-most in the league.

Tucker, the 49ers standout junior wide receiver, ranked third in C-USA with a 89.9 receiving average in C-USA games, last year and led the league with five 100-yard receiving games vs. league opponents. He led the 49ers with a school FBS record of 909 receiving yards and seven TD catches, including a pair of dramatic scores in the final minute of wins over North Texas and Marshall.
