Defense, Pitching Shaky in Baseball's 8-5 Loss to FIU

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – FIU took advantage of Charlotte pitching scoring in six of the nine inning while putting up 16 hits in an 8-5 victory on Saturday afternoon. FIU’s Chris Mourelle went the distance despite being tagged for five runs on 12 hits. The Panthers scored in five-straight innings on Saturday while taking advantage of two 49ers errors as Charlotte surrendered those season-high 16 hits.

“We made it way too easy for FIU to score today,” began Head Coach Loren Hibbs. “We have to defend better and manage the count from a pitching standpoint. We were behind way too much, gave FIU a jump start and they scored in six of the nine innings.
