Charlotte 49ers freshman kicker Jonathan Cruz (Cartersville, Ga./Cartersville H.S.), the hero of the 49ers' 27-24 dramatic come-from-behind victory at defending Conference USA Champion FAU, has been named the C-USA Special Teams Player of the Week for the third time this season.
The freshman delivered another "Cruz Missile", blasting a game-winning 56-yard field goal with 25 seconds left to give Charlotte its emotional 27-24 victory on the road at FAU.
His career-best 56-yarder is the second longest field goal made in the FBS, this year and the longest by a C-USA kicker. The previous long in C-USA was 54 yards, also by Cruz, who now owns the top two longest kicks of the season in Conference USA.
