HOUSTON – Charlotte Baseball scored one run in the ninth and had the tying run on base but couldn't bring it around to level the game in a 7-6 loss to Rice on Saturday afternoon (May 3).
A late home run in the eighth inning put Rice (14-33, 8-12 American) ahead by two after Charlotte (26-20, 11-9 American) had led by the same margin two different times during the game – taking an early 2-0 lead in the first and then retaking the lead in the third before extending it to a two-run advantage again at 5-3 in the fourth.
