Charlotte women’s soccer rallies, but falls short against Georgia Southern - Overtime goal by the Eagles ends the 49er rally

Three second half goals by the Charlotte 49ers (2-2-0) weren’t enough to pick up the victory on Sunday afternoon, as a late overtime goal by the Georgia Southern Eagles (1-2-1) resulted in a 4-3 loss for the 49ers. Down by two goals at halftime, and down by a goal with less than 20 minutes to go in regulation, Charlotte was able to equalize both times with excellent team goals. but fell short on the defensive end against the Eagles.

The 49ers were able to hold the potent Eagles offense in check until the 38th minute, when the Georgia Southern striker picked up a loose ball just outside the 18-yard box and fired a shot past Charlotte goalkeeper Anna Shelden for the 1-0 lead.
