Charlotte softball battles, falls to UNC - Tarheels timely hitting downs 49ers in extra innings

In their first game back at home in two weeks, the Charlotte 49ers (24-17, 5-7 C-USA) lost 8-5 in eight innings to the North Carolina Tar Heels (23-19, 7-8 ACC). The 49ers offense continued their momentum from this past weekend by racking up 12 hits during the game, including two each from Emma Ocker, Bailey Rhoney and Haley Pace.

Lexi Betancourt was in the circle for Charlotte and pitched all eight innings, but gave up twelve hits and five walks while only recording two strikeouts. The 49ers were able to rally from three separate deficits in the first, fourth and seventh innings, but were unable to come from behind in the eighth inning.
