CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The distance squad had a great showing on the first day of the Virginia Challenge Friday evening after Austin Carroll broke the school record in the 1500m and the 49ers posted five top-10 performances.
Carroll broke the three-year-old record in the 1500m with a PR time of 3:45.29 to place ninth in the event. Tim Haughton was the next Charlotte finisher after running a time of 3:53.04, followed by Jacob Gallant with a time of 3:55.04. Finnegan McBride also posted a season-best mark of 3:58.
