IRVING, Texas - Redshirt sophomore Caroline Sang has been tabbed Conference USA Cross Country Female Athlete of the Week after turning in an outstanding performance at last Friday's the Penn State Open, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Eldoret Town, Kenya native placed eighth out of 223 runners in the women's 6K at the Penn State Open with a personal record-setting time of 20:37. The effort easily surpassed her previous personal record in the 6K of 22:30.2 which she set at the 2015 NCAA Southeast Regionals.
Through four races thus far in the 2016 season, Sang has been the first 49er woman to cross the finish line in all four races.
