As the 49ers women's tennis team travelled to Tennessee for the annual Conference USA tournament in late April 2016, Caroline Price received an unexpected phone call that dramatically changed her plans for the future. At the time, Price was finishing up her inaugural season as a volunteer coach with Charlotte – a position that she fell into. The former Patterson Medal recipient and national women's tennis standout at North Carolina never fully envisioned herself committing to a career in coaching. However, when she answered Stephen Amritraj's phone call, the USTA Director of Collegiate Tennis, that all changed.
