CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Trailing by two sets Friday night, Charlotte volleyball rallied behind a true freshman and record-setting blocking performance to top Southern Utah (22-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-6) completing day one of the Charlotte Invitational. Jannelle Curtiss set a new school-best mark with 12 block assists despite the Niners finishing one block assist away from a 17-year-old record.
"They decided to pull it out," started Head Coach Karen Weatherington. "We have been training things to give us the guts and grits, they've always had it in them. When you find an opportunity and find a player that doesn't mind putting a couple of folks on their shoulders, let alone two or three, this is the result.
