Charlotte, N.C. – Daniel Bruce's goal proved to be enough as the 20th-ranked Charlotte 49ers (5-2-1, C-USA: 1-2) defeated UAB (1-6-1, C-USA: 0-3), 1-0, in their Conference USA home-opener at Transamerica Field.
"We really got going at the start of the second half," said Charlotte 49ers head coach Kevin Langan. "We started to probe and ask questions, we passed the ball well, and got them on the back foot. As a result, we got numbers in good areas and the chances started to fall for us. The goal was a wonderful passing move through the midfield, a great cross by Luke Johnson, and Daniel Bruce made a great run and finish in the box.
