CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte 49ers second baseman Brett Netzer became the fourth-highest draftee in program history being selected by the Boston Red Sox in the third round of the annual MLB Draft on Tuesday afternoon. Netzer was taken as the 101st pick overall and the first this season from Conference USA.
"We're really happy for Brett," began Head Coach Loren Hibbs. "It shows that the hard work he put in pays off. He was a non-drafted player out of high school and developed into a third round pick. It's a testament to his work ethic and willingness to learn.
