CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Sophomore Lizzy Birch hit two home runs to propel the Charlotte softball team to a 5-2 victory over in-state rivals NC State at the D.L. Phillips Softball Complex on a windy Wednesday night.
Birch came into the night with no home runs on the season and only one long ball to her name in her collegiate career. That all changed in the bottom of the 3rd inning. With the Wolfpack (3-12) having just tied the game at two in the top of frame, sophomore first baseman Meredith Harris led off with a single past the glove of the third baseman.
