Big Inning Costs Diamond Niners in 8-5 Loss to ODU

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Visiting Old Dominion put up all eight runs in the top half of the second and held on late for an 8-5 victory over Charlotte on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Monarchs clinch the series for the third-straight year heading into Sunday’s finale.

“This is a tough pill to swallow,” remarked Head Coach Loren Hibbs. “We have to do a better job on the front end of games.”

Charlotte (19-28, 8-15 C-USA) began the afternoon with a run in the bottom half of the first as a Brett Netzer one-out single to right starting the offense.
