HOUSTON, Texas – Charlotte baseball tied a school-record with their third victory against top-25 teams using a thrilling 1-0 victory in game two splitting a Friday doubleheader at 15th-ranked Rice on Friday night. Rice won the opener 5-1 before the 49ers rallied in the nightcap thanks to a combined five-hit shutout by starter Colton Laws and Holden Capps.
“It’s been a long day but ended in a positive manner,” began Head Coach Loren Hibbs. “You really can’t pitch a whole lot better than Laws and Capps did. We played extremely good defense digging down to beat a team of this caliber on the road speaks a lot to our guys.
