The Charlotte 49ers travelled down to Miami for a series with the Panthers of Florida International University, and the team will return home victorious. After losing the second game of the back-to-back-to-back contests, Charlotte built a big lead and held on in the last game, 8-7, to win the series 2-1.
Game 1: Charlotte 4, FIU 0
Charlotte pitcher Colton Laws only allowed three hits on the day, and the defense stepped up on the way to a 4-0 shutout win in the squad’s Conference USA opener. The Niners got on the board in the fourth inning when FIU’s pitcher, Robert Garcia, had a series of miscues.
