CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Visiting VCU grabbed an early lead on Friday afternoon and diverted a couple of early rallies by Charlotte to claim a 17-5 victory in the baseball opener for both teams.
"Obviously, it's not the way we wanted to lead off the year," began Head Coach Robert Woodard. "We're up against a really talented VCU team and we knew our pitching staff was going to be tested with a veteran lineup. We talk about responding all the time with any adversity that comes our way. We'll be back out here tomorrow and I'm excited to get it going again.
