The Charlotte 49ers (16-20, 6-8 C-USA) defeated the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders 8-4 Saturday afternoon behind six strong innings from Colton Laws and two-hit performances from six Charlotte batters, setting the rubber match for Sunday at 1:00 p.m. to decide a late season Conference USA match-up.
The 49ers wasted no time scoring in the top of the first as Reece Hampton reached by being hit by a pitch. Brett Netzer got the start in the second spot in the lineup, doubling down the right field on a 2-2 pitch, scoring Hampton to give Charlotte a quick one run lead.
