CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UTSA scored three go-ahead runs in the sixth and two in the eighth, then held off several Charlotte rallies, including one in the ninth, to hold on for a 5-3 victory on Sunday afternoon.
Charlotte (28-22, 15-12 C-USA) picked up a key hit from Logan Sherer in the bottom of the first to grab a 2-0 lead. Brett Netzer and T.J. Nichting picked up back-to-back one-out singles before Sherer belted a 3-0 fastball to right-center scoring both on his 11th double of the year.
