CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte offense couldn’t find a way to solve Fairfield starter Kyle Dube in a 3-2 series-opening loss to the Stags on Friday afternoon. Charlotte did lead the hit column 6-5 and made a late inning push before running out of time.
“Fairfield pitched better, played better defense, they put better swings on the ball and outplayed us, so you have to give them credit,” remarked Head Coach Loren Hibbs. “We competed again and made another late-inning run, but we need to be better on the front end.”
Fairfield (4-5) broke up a scoreless game through five in the sixth using a pair of hit by pitches, two wild pitches and an error to grab a 3-0 lead.
