CHARLOTTE, N.C. – With basketball season starting around the country this week, Charlotte49ers.com recently caught up with former Charlotte women's basketball Team MVP Drewana Bey, class of 1998.

Bey started 71 of her 107 career games with the 49ers under head coach Ed Baldwin from 1995-98 as a 6-0 forward from Largo, Maryland, increasing her workload and productivity each season. As a junior, she was the team's top rebounder and helped the program, which was playing its first year inside Halton Arena, to a home overtime upset of No. 6-ranked Alabama with a double-double of 16 points and 17 rebounds, one of eight double-doubles that season.
