Charlotte, N.C. — Charlotte's tallied a season-high 24 points; however, the host Niners (5-19; 1-12 C-USA) fell to the visiting UTEP Miners (8-17, C-USA: 3-10) in heartbreaking fashion, 87-86. UTEP's Paul Thomas scored the game-winning jumper with two seconds remaining on the clock.
"Your one or two plays away from securing what you are working for," Charlotte 49ers interim coach said. "As a coach I think back to the first five minutes of the game and not the last ten seconds because we looked like we had never practiced. But to our credit we fought back and we worked our way back into the game.
