PALM DESERT, Calif. – A pair of 49ers find themselves just one back of the individual lead as #50 Charlotte holds on to second place heading into the final round of the Desert Intercollegiate on Sunday.

Carson Ownbey paced the 49ers with a five-under 67 on Saturday to shoot up the leaderboard in a tie for second with teammate John Gough. Ownbey deposited eight birdies on the day, four on each side, during his circuit of 67. Gough started his day with an opening birdie and ended with back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17 shooting a two-under 70.
