BOONE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers cross country team opened up their season with a strong outing on Friday at the Mountains to Sea Open hosted by App State. On the women's side, the Niners claimed a second-place team finish with 32 points, while junior Chandler Horton was a second away from beating her personal record 5k time with a first-place finish of 17:17.17.
On the men's side, Charlotte claimed the top-three individual places in the 6.4k with senior Paul Arredondo, sophomore Nick Scudder and freshman Avery Cannon leading the way.
