JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After taking a narrow 25-23 victory in the opening set, the Charlotte 49ers volleyball team fell in three-straight tightly-contested sets dropping a 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 22-25, 24-26) decision to Illinois-Chicago on Friday night. The 49ers were led by Molly Shaw's 18 kills and out-blocked their opponent 9-6.
Charlotte (1-3) got on the board in the opening set with back-to-back kills from Kaylyn Torain and Anna Henderson. Tied at 12 later in the set, Shaw started a five-point run for the Niners that included a service ace by the freshman, two kills by Tatyana Thomas and a combo block by Thomas and Jocelyn Stoner.
