The Charlotte 49ers fell to the Elon Phoenix Wednesday, March 16 in heartbreaking fashion losing 6-5. The Phoenix walked off on a single to shallow center in the seventh inning.
Charlotte fell behind 4-2 in the third inning but regained their momentum in the top of the fourth. Kiersten Berrier reached base and went on to score after teammate Haley Pace hit her home.
The 49ers remained just one run behind for the ensuing two innings but took control in the top of the seventh. Meredith Harris took initiative and homered over the the left field fence leveling the score.
