49ers drop midweek match-up to Gardner Webb

The Charlotte 49ers (16-22, 6-9 C-USA) went to their left-handed freshman Drew Morrison who threw 2.1 innings while giving up four runs (three earned) on four hits and had one strikeout, allowing the Gardner Webb Bulldogs to score to easily, leading to Charlotte’s 8-4 loss Tuesday night in Boiling Springs, N.C.

The 49ers were led by two-hit performances from Reece Hampton, Logan Sherer, and T.J. Nichting, while Brett Netzer extended his hit-streak to 15 while going one-for-three at the plate with a run scored. Charlotte used five pitchers during another weekday game, allowing guys to get some innings under their belt in a non-conference game.
