CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte 49ers baseball team will "adopt" and sign Xavier, an eight-year old who lives in Charlotte, as an honorary team member for life on March 28th at 2:00 p.m. inside Hayes Stadium. Xavier, who is battling Truncus Arteriosus, a rare form of heart disease, will become a member of the 49ers baseball program after he "signs" on March 28th.
The adoption ceremony on the 28th will be Xavier's official welcoming party to the team being invited to practices, games and other team events for years to come. The 49ers will also present Xavier with plenty of gear and swag along with having access to the player's clubhouse.
