MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan wrestling coach Tom Borrelli said weeks ago that January would be a grind for his team.
Sunday’s match with No. 4-ranked Missouri may be the pinnacle of that rugged January journey.
The Tigers come to McGuirk Arena (4 p.m.) 8-0 in duals including 5-0 in the Mid-American Conference. They won their 36th consecutive dual on Friday, defeating Eastern Michigan, 24-10, in Ypsilanti.
Missouri’s lineup is daunting, with eight wrestlers ranked in the top 10 in their respective weight classes.
The Chippewas are in the midst of a resurgence, coming in to Sunday’s dual 5-1, 2-0 and off a dramatic 16-15 league dual victory over 21st-ranked Ohio.
