Weekend warriors: Central Michigan uses grand slam, complete-game pitching performance to roll past Western Michigan

Just another example of a senior catcher offering a helping hand to his freshman pitcher.

Central Michigan fell behind by a pair of runs in the opening frame Saturday afternoon at Theunissen Stadium against rival Western Michigan, with some early struggles by 6-foot-9 freshman Tyler Hankins setting the early tone.

But leave it to Chippewas senior catcher Robert Greenman to flip the script.

Greenman’s grand slam in the bottom of the first propelled CMU to the lead, while Hankins settled down considerably for a complete-game performance in what ended as a 10-4 triumph for the hosts.
