PITTSBURGH – Alexis Pelafas scored two goals and Kristen Knutson posted the shutout in her first appearance in a Chippewa uniform Friday as the Central Michigan women’s soccer team opened the season with a 2-0 non-conference victory over Duquesne at the Dukes’ Rooney Field.

It marked the first time CMU has won season opener since 2012, and the first time in coach Peter McGahey’s four years in charge of the program.

And it came against a Duquesne team that last year won the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament to gain a berth in the College Cup.
