MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan soccer coach Peter McGahey liked what he saw out of his team Sunday in its 2-0 exhibition victory over Detroit Mercy.

He cited discipline, particularly on defense, and what he termed a “mature” approach to the game. He’s hoping that bodes well when his Chippewas kick off the season this weekend with a trip to Pittsburgh, where they will play Duquesne on Friday (7 p.m.) and Robert Morris on Sunday (1 p.m.).

“The most important thing that I’m looking for is the pieces of our culture and our playing identity that we’ve really focused on this preseason, how do those thing manifest as we get into live games – tickets, popcorn and hot dogs,” McGahey said.
